i was needing to get some MPH:RPM number. my speedo needle was detatched, and not put on right. i have 89 305tbi auto. i thought i had the 700r4 with 2.73 gears. but when i plugged the numbers into the calculator on TGO, the numbers were way off. and i seriously doubt the rear gears were changed before i bought her.

according to the calculator, with 215/60 15 tires, at 1250RPM in 4th i would be going 98. i know at that speed im taching around over 2K.

are the 700r4's gear ratios:

1st - 3.06
2nd - 1.62
3rd - 1.00
4th - 0.70

?

any idea whats wrong here???

 

I just ran the numbers and at 70 you would be taching 1,787 rpm. You would be at around 50 at 1250 rpm. here is the link if you want to do it yourself. http://www.jawsgear.net/store/catalo...4d50aa65853011

 

You used tire diameter instead of radius.

OP - which color combination did you have with the 700r4 and 2.73?

I'm going from a 700r4 w 3.23 to 2.73s I need to go the opposite way
