Do not know what your part list is or what gear you want to run . If you are talking about a fatory build sheet I cant help you ,never had a new car . But the #'s on the front of the axle housing do not realy help . The only real way of knowing is to pull the rearend cover and look on the ring gear its self .

ok i got' ch I belive in a 89 car you have 28 spline axle's but I do not know if that's a 9 bolt or a 10 bolt in that year . I just read a post too that said that the 9 & 10 bolt rear's have the same amount of bolt's in the cover . I would still pull the cover to find out what exactly what you need . The 10 bolt is a 7.5 if you are going to use a stock type posi it should slap right in there just remember whitch shim gose on the right & on the left . I you are geting a aftermarket one get a master rebuild kit too . You will need all that stuff . no more one wheel peal

You have to pull the axles to count the splines and keep the left on the left and the right on the right . They shouuld be the same size though . I you want to mesure them put a tape on the outside of the axle (The round part with the wheel stud's) and pull on a angle to the end of the inside . The carrier will go in with the ring gear on the left .The ring gear will have the size and the gear ratio stampet on the side.
