Turbo 350 vs 700R4

i wanted to know the difference between the turbo 350 and the 700r4, in the last post i did i asked what kinda trans should i put in and i'm thing about the 700r4. the thing is that the car is going to have about 430hp, i will be taking it to the race track once a week, i will be doing alot of dailly driving. the rear end is a ford 9"with a 4.11 gear, and the motor is a 383 sb. i need something that can do all that and still have a good top speed (140/150mph), a little lumberjack told me that i mite need a overdrive to do the 140/150 thing. any info you have will help, thanks guys,

ps, and keep in mind i'm trying to run high 11s in the 1/4 mile

On a TH350 with 4.11 gears and a 26" tire, you'll be at about 7435 RPM at 140 mph. With a 700R4 in O/D you'll be at 5205 RPM.

A 700R4 is a four speed overdrive with a locking torque converter clutch. The TH350 is a three speed without a locking clutch (unless it's a TH350C, which has a locking clutch).

With that kind of HP, the 700R4 won't last near as long as the TH350 will .... unless you replace all the internals of the 700R4 with the best parts you can get (Kevlar clutches, etc)

The TH350 also has a better gear ratio. The 700R4 has a very wide 1-2 gear spread. You really need to over-rev first gear to be at a good rpm when shifting into second. It's designed to give a good low first gear when non performance gears are in the diff. 2.77 etc.

Where do you plan on doing 140/150 on an extended basis? You're not going to getting that fast in the 1/4 mile. For highway driving you don't want such a deep gear.

You might want to consider the 200-4R tranny. Better gear ratio like the TH350 but also has an overdrive like the 700R4.

thanks man, yah i dont think i'll be going 140mph for long, i just need something that can be "fast" in the 1/4 mile and still be able to be a dially driver. i would like an overdrive but thats only to same gas.
