No, it will not work. You most likely have a 7.5" 10-bolt rear end. The 8.5" 10-bolts were used on 2nd Gen F-body's.

www.gearsareus.com sells Eaton posi units for the 7.5" 10-bolts. Their prices are comptetive too.
Edit: Simple way to check is to count the cover bolts.

Well, you could remove the cover and physically measure the ring, but that would be a waste of time.
You have a 7.5" (sometimes seen as 7.625") 10-bolt rear end.

Eaton makes LSDs for 28 spline 10-bolts, look at the second application on their website: http://www.traction.eaton.com/prod5.htm

Yes that's the part you want, and reread my last post. I mentioned the 7.625" measure already.
The ring gears are the same size, the method used to measure them was changed. At least, that's what I have be told.

Hey Probuilt, how are you affiliated with www.justdifferentials.com? I see on the footer of the website that it's sponsored by you. I'm just curious.

To PRO BUILT ....
I have an 89 Trans Am GTA 5 Speed ..... Was told it has a stock 3.45 gear in the rear end. Can u tell me if its a 7.5 " 10 bolt rear end? And if its 26 or 28 spline? I saw u said it was a "changeover" year ... I am looking to put a 373 gear in it, as I am swapping out the motor to a 355 300 horse this week... Any info would be helpful ... Also if the gears will just fit right in or if I have to change the carrier.... Thank you! Scott

If yor car has 3.45 gears in it, then you have a Borg-Warner 9-bolt rear end. Quite a lot of '89 GTA's received that rear end from the factory.

There's plenty of information about the BW 9-bolt on this site if you care to search.
The 9-bolt is considered stronger than the 10-bolt rear end. The 9-bolt does not use c-clips for axle retention. The 9-bolt uses 4, not 2, spider gears in the posi carrier. I believe 1989 was the last year they were used in the F-body.
The bad part about the 9-bolt is the scarcity of parts. It's essentially an Australian rear end. Check out http://www.9bolt.com. I believe a TGO member runs that site.
