Dipstick Assemby for 700R4
Has anyone out there used a stainless braided assembly for their trans instead of the rigid tube assembly? I'm stuck trying to put the rigid tube in since I have the trans completely installed and for the life of me, I cannot get that tube in properly and it seems rather sloppy. Any ideas out there or at least tell me how to get the original one into place, any special tricks you know of. Thanks..

Lokar sells a real nice piece for the 700R4. Worked fine, as I had the exact problem as you are having. Just had to fab a small aluminum bracket for it that I mounted on the underhood cowl "ledge", just to the right of the distributor. If the stock one doesnt seat properly, it WILL leak.

I have a lokar also. It is for a 700r4 and I now have a th350...so I may be in the market to sell it soon. I am going to see if I can make this work somehow.
I had trouble finding someplace to mount it..but it did not leak. It is a PITA to add fluid with it. Mainly because I lost the adapter they sell with the tube.

Yea, that filler adapter is now clamped to one of my funnels. It would be a pain without it.
Over all, Lokar made a pretty good piece there. I had no other alternative, as a solid tube had to be positioned exactly where a tube was coming out of my firewall.

Thanks for the replys, for those of you who used one of the Lokar units, what was the length? Was it like 24 or more inches long? Thanks for the input.

Not totally sure, but it is long enough to bolt it to an aluminum bracket mounted to the "ledge" above the distributor.
