thats right... C6 corvette gets an available 6 speed automatic (6L80E) with tiptronic shifting. paddle shifter on the wheel....
combine that with the LS2 and shove that beast into a thirdgen. thats what i want to do... someday

more than likely, and manuals are cool, but paddle shifters is the closest thing you can get to ferrari. 6 speed auto will be quicker than the manual, but with paddle shifter, just like a manual. just no clutch to worry about.
LS2 is similar to the LS1 so that wont be a problem getting in. but hopefully the 6L80E is just like the 4L60E and will bolt in

C5's and C6's use a transaxle setup. So it won't be "no problem to get in" The transmission is mounted in the back of the car as one unit apart of the rear axle setup.
And paddle shifter != just like a manual. I like kicking the clutch myself.

You could convert to a 4L60E/4L80E with a TCI box and use one of the new aftermarket paddle shifters...still not cheap, but a LOT easier:
Products
CNC Machined from billet aluminum, The Shrifter™ combines the functionality of manu-matic shift technology with the look and feel of Formula One paddle shifters. And the Shrifter adds a killer look to your hot rod's cockpit. It accepts popular aftermarket steering wheels and fits a wide range of factory and aftermarket columns. You can switch "on the fly" between manual and automatic modes with the included rocker switch. The Shrifter™ installs without any modifications to your steering column. Simply replace your existing aftermarket steering wheel hub with the Shrifter and reinstall your steering wheel. The proprietary electronics plug directly into TCI's T-Com wiring harness (sold separately). Supply 12 volts and a ground and the Shrifter is ready to go! You can calibrate shift point, shift firmness and much more with T-Com (visit: www.tciauto.com for details)
Includes polished or machined Shrifter™ assembly, electronics, switch and Instructions. Accepts popular 9-bolt steering wheels such as Budnik, Colorado Customs, LeCarra and Billet Specialties. Fits 67-94 GM steering columns as well as custom columns from Ididit and Flaming River. Adapter Ring (shown) for 5 and 6 bolt steering wheels sold separately. See below.

I think only the Z06 get the paddle shift trans
6L80E sounds like a regular automatic most paddle shifts are computer controlled manual trannys. I hope its not like that push button crap that they put on the saab's and the grand prix
