wont shift into any gear

i just put a new centerforce clutch in my camaro. i did something i knew i shouldnt have but did it anyway. when i was putting the trans in, i "pushed" the trans in the last 1/2 inch by using the bolts to "walk" it in. now the input shaft is spinning w/ the engine and, even w/ the clutch engaged, it wont shift. i know what i did wrong but why wouldnt it go in? i test fitted it on the end of the input shaft before i installed it, it was fine. after it was installed, i checked visually and by feeling all around the edge of the pilot bushing for any possible damage during installation.... nothing, it was the same as before it was installed. but why wouldnt it go in? the alignment tool went in perfectly, no catching or anything at all. so its gonna come back out and probably a new bushing, but does anyone have an idea as to why that happened? cause i fought for 2 hours trying to get that trans in by hand before i walked it in.

I figured mine out on saturday. Everything was correct. I just put the car in reverse, pushed the car and let the clutch out a few times. everything was working, so I fired her up and did a few burn outs. Works great!!! Now I just have to figure out the reverse light wiring, and the clutch safety swith. Oh and bypass the park/neutral swith. Car looks funny with both shifters in it.

i pulled the trans back out and checked everything. didnt find anything wrong. so after checking everything over and all that, i decided to reinstall it. got it all back together, and it worked just fine. no clue what was going on, but it works fine now. also, that centerforce dual friction clutch makes that pedal so easy to push down!! i thought something may be wrong, but nothing is. i love it, no more sore leg in traffic, lol.

For the future, What I always do cause them plastic alignment tools don't work to good is i push the trans in till that last half inch that it wont go it cause its not aligned with the pilot and i have someone push in the clutch and the trans slides rigth it cause your not trying to pull the disc between the flywheel and pressure plate...
