General t-56 Questions
Hey, im looking to get one of these cars for my daily driver, (the 65 chevelle just ain't cuttin' it anymore). So Im looking for car that has EFI and OD, and here I am. I don't really care if the car has an auto or manual becuase Im going to be putting a .5 od T56 in it. I've got some general quetions, after I have searched the forums.
Lt1 93-97 t56 stuff, bellhousing clutch flywheel etc. Does that all 'bolt' up to a older style SBC? I've read, but have heard of some problems with the fly wheel. Does the new clutch MC fit in place of the old clutch MC? I take it clutch MC pushrod hole is not drilled on auto cars, but thats no problem.
What about the wier kit, easier then LT1 option?

I think you got it. the flywheel is the problem. if you stay with the 87-up 350 cars you can use the flywheel from the 93-97 f-body donor. if the 350 or 305 is pre. 86 then you will need a special flywheel for the 2pc rear main blocks
most of the questions you can think of have been asked before so try using differant search words (the search eng. is picky but, works)
"What about the wier kit, easier then LT1 option?" I am lost on what you are asking?

I have a 96 or thereabouts T-56 in my 83 car, with the car's original block. The tran bolts right up. Back in about 86 or so, I converted it over to hydraulics; the T-56 ones (new from GM) bolted right in to the car, and hooked right up to the pedals I have which I think are from a 84 car.
It uses a Centerforce flywheel. Bolts to an early-model block, but uses a stock T-56 clutch setup.
The Weir kit will work in just about any car, but is a little more trouble to get right. It's a sort of donut-shaped slave cyl that goes on the front of the trans, and uses a traditional style clutch instead of the highly unusual LT1/T-56 setup.
If you get one of these cars, 84 up, the T-56 is almost a bolt-in. The main thing that's different, besides the hydraulics, is the crossmember. I used a Spohn one for the conversion, that came with a torque arm; the whole setup moves the torque arm off of the trans, and fastens it directly to the crossmember. The only real unusual thing was the speedo. The T-56 extension housing will absolutely not accept a cable drive like my car uses. But there are companies, and even individuals, that will machine the ext hsg to accept the early model style of cable drive or VSS. If you get one of these cars that uses an electronic speedo, there are electronic gadgets that will divide the pulse count from the T-56 VSS to what the car's electronics need.
