Can't say anything about the truetrac, but I put a powertrax lock right locker in mine.

Nothing but good things to say about it. This is my daily driver, but it's also my toy. I beat on it darn near every day.

I aint cut any really great short times cause of wheel hop, but ran a best of 12.80 @ 118 mph so far.

The locker cut my wheel spin down by about 60%.

It's not near as bad on the streets as I thought it was gonna be. Not alot of clicking, clattering, and banging like some people say.

Only time I can hear it, is at very slow speed tight turns (u turns, pulling into parking spaces, etc)

It does drive alittle diff through. If you hit tthe throttle fast, or let up fast when in a curve, the locker will lock up and rear of car will "wiggle" around a tad.

The powertrac lock right, is stronger than the carrier anyway, so I don't think it's gonna break. The ring gear will be one of the 1st things to break, maybe the pinion next, then the carrier its self.

i might have to look for one of those then. What set up are you using to get into the 12s? Im hoping to run mid 12s with my new set up, but i know that im goign to have some traction problems. For your wheel hop issues, have you lowered your car? Have you installed lower control arm relocation brakets? Just wondering cus i heard as your car sags with the springs over time the geometry of the suspention will be off, causing the wheel hop issue.

As for my engine. It's really mild IMO, but just one of those combos that is just right, and runs alot faster than it should.

355, 10.18:1, 272/284* 216/228*@.050" lift .454"/.480" lift 112 LSA hyd. flat tappet cam, 1.6 roller rockers (adds about 2* @.050", and brings lift to .484"/.512", GM 462 double hump heads, many many many hours of port work, manley stainless 1.94"/1.50" valves, scat 9000 crank (5 lbs less than GM cast crank), windage screen, rear mail baffle, 7 qt. trap door baffled, kicked out pan,
alll my pulleys are alum. under drive (alot more under driven than most run) elec. fan, edelbrock performer intake, with the divider wall ground down 2" x 1", and runners port matched, edelbrock 600 cfm carb, 1" open spacer, 10" x 3.75" K&N air filter, sealed air pan to a hood scoop for real cold air/ram air set up, th-400 trans, transgo reprogramming kit, B&M gov. re cal kit, 11" 2800 stall converter, 7.625" 10 bolt rear, yukon axles, new bearings and seals, powertrax lock right, T/A alum. support cover, 3.42 gears, hooker shorty headers, true dual 2.25" pipes, no cats, flowmaster 2 chamber mufflers, No smog stuff, no ECU or it's wires, tore out all the stock carpet and padding, and replaced it with lighter sound blockers, and speaker box carpet, alittle more weight savings here and there, but nothing real major.

1978 trans am WS6 alum. 15" x 8" snow flake wheels, Yoko avid S/T tires, 255/60 rear and 235/60 front

My car is pretty well at stock ride height. I aint got to the suspension yet. Should be able to get the spohn LCA's and brackets toward end of this mo.

My TQ arm is stock, but solid mounted. The wheel hop started after the locker install. My traction was so bad with the peg leg rear, it couldnt even try to hook, just spin em' for around 300 feet. After the locker, the tires grabbed alot better, but that brough on wheel hop.

The LCA's, and brackets should fix that right up though.

I run at atlanta dragway. It took me alot of tuning to get to the point i'm at now. When I 1st ran the car with this combo it was in the high 13's, low 14's. After changine the timing, timing curve about 15 times, dailing in the carb, switching metering rods, springs and jets atleast 30-35 times, setting the lifter preload a few diff ways, etc etc. I got down to where i'm at.

Cause of traction probs it's all over the map between 12.80's and 12.90's but the trap speed is always between 117.8 and 118.2 mph.
That tells me, with a dead hook, I got the power to turn 11.40's, all on a N/A mild 355 engine
