YO-YO springs 700R4
I've posted several times about a clicking coming from my 700R4 trans. AAMCO did the inspection and said the "yo-yo" spring clips are cracked in it and estimated a price of about $1250 to do the repair. That includes resealing, converter, fluid, and labor. These springs(clips) are around the front pump area. Does anybody know what the guy is talking about? He's been with AAMCO for about 25 years and has owned three different AAMCO's so he should know. THANKS

Noise
When do you get the noise? With engine running, obviously. But, only in park or neutral? Only in fwd or reverse? Does the noise change when you shift into or out of gear? Can't say as I've ever heard of a noise cause by the pump vane rings. I'm assuming your AAMCO guy means the rings because they come in Transco's "No Yo-Yo" kit. Beware of techs who don't know the proper names of parts. The rings are not Yo-Yo rings/clips. They merely come in the afore mentioned kit as a replacement for the stock cast iron rings. The rings in the kit are hardened steel. The "No Yo-Yo" kit is designed to over come the tendancy of the pump slide to move in the reduce direction due to certrifical forces acting upon the pump vanes. That is why the kit come with replacement priming springs, and is available in two performance levels.
