fluid capacity of 700r4/converter
i am buying a new 700r4 for a present to myself with my tax return. i already bought a 10" ATI torque converter, it's sitting in my shop. i am going to put all of this and a new tranny cooler in the car as soon as i get the tranny, but it will be bone dry. how much fluid should i expect to put in and what brand would ya'll suggest?

If I remember correctly 11 qts is close. With a cooler and a deep pan you could use 13 or more. I would have 15qts handy, just in case. I cannot recommend a brand. I use the wal-mart stuff in everything. I am sure they do not make it , but it is (hopefully) a name brand repackaged. Most people frown on cheap fluid. Suits me fine though.

well, i have been using havoline repackaged as Advance Auto brand, and it's been working fine, but with this tranny, i don't want to skimp cause it's gonna have to last a while, know what i mean? getting a great deal, $625 plus core on a tranny that they claim will take the abuse of 400hp. so, even though it's a "cheap" performance build, i need it to last a long time.
