Got a Pro-Built 700R4, how do I get it to shift at 5600RPM?
I had given Pro-built instructions for a shift point at 5600 to 5800 RPM. The 2-3 shift occurs at 5200 RPM, same as my oroginal 700R4. I want to run it in 'D', and let it shift itself. What can I do?
Change the servo?
TIA

OK, do I push the cable back toward the firewall or toward the TB in order to raise the shift point?

I had a similar problem with my 700-r4 after I bought it. It would shift at WOT around 3kish (haven't drove the car in over a year) every gear. Basically from my knowledge you don't want to mess with the TV cable if it's in the right position. An improper adjustment on that can really mess up your transmission, because the 700-r4 depends on the cable for fluid pressure.
Lots of topics covered on this (try doing some searches on governor weights):

Basically call up Dana and talk to him. He should beable to hook you up with a set of governor weights (Or tell you for sure what to do). Good luck on that though... I called him at least 5 times and he kept saying they were going out in the mail at the end of the week and guess what it's been over 2 years and none seen to date. That's the only problem I have had with Pro-Built, I'm still very happy with my overall experience.
I eventually just switched to a megashifter at least I know the gear will hit at whatever rpm I shift as long as it's above that rpm I now like the idea of it shifting way to early at WOT.

The proper way is to change the governors at the back of the tranny...

I ended up using an S10 governor on my ProBuilt 4L60. If I hold it to the floor when I know it's going to shift, it will shift every time perfectly at 5600. I tried a corvette governor and it wouldn't shift until like 6200 but when my new heads and cam go in that's what I'll be using.
Do NOT screw with the TV cable, push the tab, pull it all the way out towards the firewall, then push the throttle blades WOT and you will hear 1 or 2 clicks. Then leave it, it's now adjusted. Have someone get in the car and push the pedal while you watch the blades, if they do not go WOT, then it's still not right, replace the TV cable...

Thanks for the replies.
I called Dana at Pro-Built and he said to adjust the detent cable to max TV. I should check that the cable is tight at WOT. If the tranny does not shift where I want it to, then I need to experiment with the governor. So Chris and 92GTA, you guys are right. Dana said to buy the B&M governor weight & spring kit and do some experimenting.

LOL, no thanks to me for telling you to call Dana?
Also on a side note I'll mention just incase this gets hit with a search down the road if the TV cable tab doesn't hold the cable it'll cause problems too. I had lazy shifts for awhile until I noticed that the tab was spitting the cable back out at the first acouple hard shifts while the car was in motion. It messed my adjustment all up. I eventually replaced the cable and fixed the problem.
