dead 700R4
so i was driving up a hill today and just cruising fine, then a slow car... i put it to the floor to pass him and what happens.. no shift... so i thought that kind of odd... i then came to a light... normal throttle, not WOT, and it would not shift to 2nd... when it finally shifted to 2nd, it wouldnt go to 3rd... top speed 50mph @ 5000 rpm. dead tranny? rebuild? anything at all would be cool guys...

first off try checking the fluid with the engine running, on a level surface, with the engine hot. also check the tv cable and make sure it hasen't broken or slipped out of adjustment.

AAMCO said $2300 was worst case scenario for a diagnostic, teardown and rebuild. Brand spankin new Raptor 700R4 with beefy servo's and an external trans cooler was $1900.. what about those used 700R4's on Hawksthirdgenparts.com? $300, but do they run? guarantee? any ideas?

If this happened all at once, then it is most likely a broken or stripped governor gear. If you want a quality transmission try http://pro-built.net/index.cfm?fusea...t&productid=35 this should give you everything you need/want. Let me know if I can be of help?

Probuilt won't steer you wrong, and for your mild engine you won't ever break it.
I bought a street-strip for my S10 in April of 2001 and have put nearly 20,000 miles of use and abuse on it, including towing a car heavier than the truck on a dolly across four states- trust me, after seeing what AAMCO would charge you for a STOCK rebuild Probuilt's a bargin!
