700R4 banging into drive
my tranny shifts fine in my 89 formula firebird, but if i'm in park, then i go in reverse, then hit the break, and put the tranny from reverse into drive, it makes a BIG CLANG sound... it does this sometimes from neutral to drive too, but not as loud.... does anyone know waht could cause this??? let me know thanks

Supposed to help maintain something or other under high torque conditions. I think.
But I would have to say it sounds like your tranny mount is broke.

damn thats not good cause that'd mean my tranny mount is broken. It does it inot ever drive gear, 1st 2nd, Driver, Overdrive, and Reverse.
What will happen if i dont get it fixed right away? Will the tranny fall off or something?

No, the trans will hit the floor pan or smack the crossmember if the trans mount is completly busted. The transmission and engine are bolted together and supported at three points: both motor mounts and the trans. mount
