Some progress pics of the 9 inch install
Spent a few hours today working on the car to get this sucker in
Here's ye old junkyard 10 bolt minus the swaybar ready to be plucked from the car.
Ahh it's out and never to return!
Couple things I was very pleased to find was, my stock 82 oddball brake lines threaded right into the new brakes and Currie was nice enough to drill holes for the mounting brakes for the brakes in their stock locations.
By the time I got done messing with the torque arm it got dark but here it is installed minus the e-brake cables and 3rd member.
The torque arm was a bear to do because when Spohn welded those two plates on, they drew in and caused the opening to be smaller than stock. I had problems getting that on the stock rear too but a hammer and grinder fixed it this time
Going to be rebuilding the 3rd member next week, found some bad parts in it last night, I would be driving the car right now if it wasn't for that. Ah well... Overall I'm very happy with how things went together. Very easy to put the rear together and stuff it in the car

Looks sharp. Make me want to break out the welder and mount the pads on the 9 I have. Could you get closer a pic of the tq arm mounting from the other side when you have the time?

Now its time for the fun part, Ive been saving a trashed 4thgen rear for just such a project and since the 9in posi 4.11 axle my dad gave me from a 68 Tbird will actually fit without getting too involved .

um , cool , but bad idea. I do not reccomend doing it that way . You shoulda put the third member in when the rear end was outta the car. The third member is heavy and it bolts need to be torqued and if you have all that stuff on there its gonna be a pain in the butt to put it in. It looks good but when i did mine i put everything together and then put the rear end in . I dont think its possible or very easy if it is to change the third member while its in the car b/c doesnt the springs push everthing up so it doesnt sit right, and then the torque arm is in the way .????

We were all laughing at how much this thing weighs, usually 1 guy can whip around a typical 9" housing especially minus center section pretty easy, not this thing After seein the top pics, I do see Moser over kills their torque arm mount for these things Probably 30lbs right there. Waiting on 3rd member and getting my braided brake lines tomorrow, once that's all on I'll have to snap some pics too to keep up with you guys
Aside from having to grind the snot out of the caliper mounting brackets...the brackets themselves are set-up for 3" axle tubes and drum brake backing plates, and this caem with the big bearing ends welded on the tube, so I had to grind alot out to get the caliper bracket to wrap around the bearing housing and then grind ALOT more out so it'd get the pads 100% over the rotor. Aside from that went pretty good.
Definately going to wait until it's all built before installation, these things are akward enough installing the center sections so it'll wait until it's 100% ready to go in. Drilled and tapped a hole in the bottom for draining and am thinkning about installing a fill spout on it also.
