just in T56 making noises?

alright just got back from my few hour drive test of the new but not new T56 and all i have to say is WOW and i must have an aftermarket clutch or somthin cause that baby grips!

but now for the bad stuff....when i am giving the car gas...in any gear... it sounds and drives normal, but when i let off the gas i hear some type of jingling which sounds to be coming from inside the shifter? i may be wrong but thats where i hear it when driving. there is definately nothing loose BOLT wise but def somthing is jingling around. what could it be and how can i check for it?

also...when shifting normally (not steppin on it) the drivetrain makes a thud as if my gears are messed up? or my torque arm is very loose somewhere and the rear end kicks foward?
reminds me of my old automatic sometimes when i shift it into drive or reverse it would make a big thud putting the car in gear.
could this problem be the T56? it also makes this noise when i down shift to floor it and catch up with someone.

please tell me my tranny isnt bad

I think you need to decide where the noise is comming from for sure. the thud (poss. clunk?) maybe your rear end back-lash.

now when you decel things will vibrate so if something is loose it will rattle. maybe the shifter is worn? maybe your trans is rubbing on some metal part? could even be you ash tray or some little thing like that

my best suggestion is see if you can find just where the noises are comming from. have someone drive while you listen for the noises. maybe take out the console so you can see if it is the trans making noise. after doing a swap like that any number of things could be loose or forgotten.

also when you down shift don't just drop it down and punch it. I always shift nicely to the gear needed then let off the clutch very quickly . I never pop it and go. unless your plan is breaking stuff.

(although my t-5 lasted years )

anything interior wise that could possibly vibrate has been removed, now that im thinking "the thud (poss. clunk?) maybe your rear end back-lash." that sounds exactly what is happening, could it be due to a loose TQ Arm? i actually think i didnt TQ down the the bolts for the mount on the tranny and today it sounds like it is clunking a lot more and louder right there. ill take a look when i get home. ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS? i would really appreciate any ideas as to the clunking and jingling.

also on another note im thinking of using the 4th gen DS that came with the kit because the input shaft is longer and would go further in the tranny than my original one so maybe that would solve anything? and also i might as well use the newer one to get it out of my yard

the T56 is a noisy trans.

if you're running without a floor to shifter boot (like you would if you just installed it and HAD to drive it ASAP) you'll hear alot more noise from it.

yes i just had to drive it. i can understand from the noisyness but the clunking? its getting worse so im goin to go under it tomorow when the rain stops and i hope i just have a losse Torque Arm mount as i remember i did forget to completely TQ down the 2 bolts holding the clamp together so im gonna hope for the best and its just the loose TQ arm

the clunk sounds like a bad or loose trans mount.
could be the TQ arm too... but more likely the trans mount.

check em both

trans mount is fairly new...it WAS the TQ arm and damn the bolt i forgot to tighten must of popped out cause the arm was up to the floor board and the clamp was open. so now i got a new bolt and the car is as quiet shifting as it should be.
thanks for all the help.
