Stock Posi Unit or not?
So I cracked open the case of a rear end I am planning on swapping into my car pretty soon. I looked at the Posi unit, and something got me thinking about it... I thought stock Posi Units were Clutch and Cone, with no gears inside... is that correct? When I pulled the cover, there was no gasket, someone had used silicone sealant on the cover... someone has been inside here before, maybe it was just an oil change, or maybe something else was changed? Does this unit look stock?
What do you guys think? And my final question, do I have to run GM Posi Additive with this unit?

Yes that is a stock one. It's actually made by Auburn.
The clutches don't eliminate the need for side gears and spider gears. There still have to be gears in a posi, along with the clutches of whatever type.
Yes it needs posi additive.
Silicone instead of a gasket is fine. The paper doesn't really doesn't do much of anything.
