Driveway transmission install...

Anyone got suggestions on what I can do to make this installation go more smoothly with less frustration? How high does the car need to be off the ground, and will a 2 3/4 ton jack suffice in lifting the tranny into place? I don't have access to a hoist and have to do this in my driveway.

I just did my 3rd trans replace (last night) in my friends dads 87' volvo RWD. Everytime i did it in his drive way. Get a set (4) of jackstands. Makes a world of differnce to have the whole car off the ground and level. I always keep a peice of carpet over there also to lay on. One thing to think about is DONT pull it and put it in by yourself. Its heavier than it looks. That jack will be plenty. If you dont have a good memory get a cardboard box and use it to put the bolts through the box (make holes) and mark them with a pen. Good luck
