T5 Strength?

The T5 isn't rated for all that much Torque. So I was woundering how to make one stronger or what othe trannsmissions will fit without extensive modification.

Tremec TKO 5 spd bolts right up with no modifications and uses the existing hydraulics, still pricey. T56 requires little modifications and is still pricey....

Did anyone make a car with a TKO in it stock that I could pirate it from?

Theres a company that makes an upgrade for the T5. Its about $1,000 if you install it yourself. Sposed to be good for 600hp.

G-force transmissions.

I plan on doing this to put behind a Pontiac 455.

As far as I know, the TKO never came in any vehicle stock, but started as an upgrade for mustangs.

Theres been a few bad reviews about g-force's t-5 upgrade giving out after very little use. I wouldn't go that route.

I would, and did. No regrets so far.

I read the post you're referring to on "Vendor review".....he was running the dog-ring style and it only had 7.1 miles on it....but I don't know if it happened at the track or what. He didn't say.

I'm running the sychronized unit and it shifts smoothly.

EDIT: You mentioned a "few" bad posts....where are the other two?

I saw another on another board on here. Sorry it escapes me where it was =/.

Also, its not so much it was the dog rings, but they didn't want to back their warranty is what would make me go :nono:. I mean, mistakes happen but if you supply a warranty and then say no we won't do this its your fault, screw that =/.

Maybe I should just find a wrecked 4th gen and scavenge the six speed out of it.

The T5 was only desinged to withstand 300 lb ft. Without power shifting or dropping the clutch you can go past this but traction will kill it. The T56 can handle a ton of abuse and have propelled some cars into the 10's in stock form.

what do you need to hook it up to a 80'2 350 or 400 engine block? Just did a search with no avail.
