Difference between disk and drum brake axles?

Car: '87 IROC
Engine: 350
Transmission: 700-R4
Difference between disk and drum brake axles?
im looking for a set of axles for my 87 IROC w/ a 10 bolt and my dad said he found out that the disk brake and drum brake axles have different part #'s. does any1 who what the difference is? my car has drums on it now,but i have a disk brake rear (a complete 1 from an 86 IROC) that i was wanting to put in it.

Dude, dont wait, put that bad boy in it will bolt right up, probably the difference in #s is the rotor/drum differences. good luck. By the way, a rear end from 82 to 02 camaro/ ta will interchange, just minor parking brake cable work is involved.:rockon:

you're telling me that all 3rd and 4th gen rear ends are completely interchangable? If thats true...do the 4th gens use a 10bolt or 12?

Transmission: T56, 700R4
Axle/Gears: 3.42, 3.42
4th gen rears are same as yours 7 1/2 in. 10 bolt, only diff is the 4th gen is about 2 inches wider.
