Zexel torsen posi, what fluid??

Hey guys I just had a 10-bolt redone with all new seals and bearings and a zexel-torsen posi from slp with some richmond 3.73's on it. Now richmond called for 75-140 with posi additive in the instructions. but I fighure since theres no clutched whats the point. So what kinda gear lube shoudl i use?? thanks

Zexel-Torsen told me that you should just use a standard gear oil. Your right about there being no clutches so you don't need the additives. I run regular gear oil and I've never had a problem.

I got some 85/140 lucas gear oil cause i was at work (pepboys) and we just got it in and everyone loves lucas so i will give it a shot, its getting drained in liek a thousand miles anyways if its bad.

i like mobil 1 synthetic gear lube, kind of hard to find though. I know pep boys has it.

Of course you dont need an additive as it dosnt have clutches. Plus...the additive is mainly to keep noise down. That richmond unit you're running isnt exactly made for the street, so you're going to have a lot of noise anyway.

so Richmond makes gears for a 7.5 in. 10-bolt that isn't for the street? lol about the only other thing u can do with that rear besides run it on the street is display it in a store lol

well i just say that because just about EVERYTHING richmond makes seems to be designed for racing rather than street.

I know people who race on 7.5 10 bolts. requires a little bit of reinforcing, but it works ok.

My richmond gears whine like a bitch. When I put in the zexel torsen posi, I added the GM additive to cut down on the supposed "rusty nail sound" some people have complained about just in case. The good news is, it also seemed to help cut the noise of the richmond gears. The whine is there but a tad lower than before.
