You could fit the AWD setup in the front of the car but the way everything lines up you'd have to eliminate the engine to do it. The truck sits a lot higher and has room under the engine to work with....you only have about 8" between your oilpan and the road.
edit: You beat me to it.

there was a topic about 4x4 camaros, and some people have actually built them. Of course they had to lift the body.
But there's basically no way to make an awd camaro without significantly raising the body, which kind of defeats the purpose of awd.

well.... you could always cut the entire back half of the floorpan out, mount the engine backwards in the rear of the car, have a transfer case send half the power to the rear and half to the front... then you just fab up a custom K member that will let the front axles pass thru................
hehe, anybody got a welder, money, and a lot of free time?

that's actually not a bad idea, travis.... especially if the car is being used exclusively as a two seater.

You know, what about fabbing up an awd system useing some subaru parts? Or audi? I know there would be alot of cutting and such, but it might be possible there. Or if you want to spend alot of money find a junked skyling (r33 or 34) and use that system (much better than full time all wheel drive).

if you're willing to heavily mod the front end, you could always put any east-west engine in there, and use its transfer case... then the rear wheel power can go back thru the trans tunnel to the rear.....
but i dont like most of thoes systems.. they're bias to teh front.. i like it set to more of the rear........ some of the newer ones are totally computer controlled, so that might not be a issue...

and id like to see someone call **** on a turbo V6......... dont forget there was a TTA....

Ok so a subies won't work (longitudinally mounted engine, but a flat four is half the length of a v8 so space is an issue) but the skylines should seeing as it is rear wheel drive until the rear brakes traction and then starts sending to the front. Also an inline turbo 6 has a pretty decent length to it so it should work. Just to give you an idea here is a pic of one. Some fire wall work and trans tunnel work should allow for it to all fit and the skylines have been put to some serious power so you shouldn't have too hard a time keeping it all together with a high hp high torque V8.
By the way subies are biased towards the rear as is mitsubishi and most of the audis (although i am 100% sure). In fact i believe that volvo is one of the few that has a bias towards the front in their awd system.

I downloaded a video of a Skyline with plenty of mods getting raped by a 4th gen, LT1 with just bolt ons. So, I'd stray from that motor lol
Plus, if you are turning 4 wheels, in a heavier car than you got the engine out of, torque must be an issue. How can a 4cyl cut it?

Ive seen a dyno video of a skyline with 1233hp and weight of 1500lbs, NO camaro will ever beat that. That car literally accelerates as fast as any crotch rocket, and its for sale! only 730K!

sure... and it would look exactly like the pic above.
you have to jack it up in the air for that to work. the parts dont fit IN the car.. so they have to go under it.
