tq. conv. unlocks after I let off the throttle
Hey guys, my brothers car has this problem.
Its an 89 Camaro, 2.8 with a 700R4 tranny. Everytime you get up to speed, (50-60 mph) and let off the throttle a little bit, the torque convertor will unlock. But once you step on it again and give it some load, it will lock until you let off. Its not really that annoying yet, but I was wondering if it hurts anything running it like that? I've tried adjusting the TV cable using the tutorial on this site, but it didn't seem to help much. Is there anything else I can be doing to fix this problem?

It gets real bad if you have a high stall converter. ( I run a Yank SS 4,000 converter.) The fix is very easy all you have to do is change the "Torque converter unlock prevention speed threshold" to what you think you need the next time you burn a chip. Most factory chips are set at about 75 mph so if you let off the throttle over 75 mph you will note the converter will stay locked.
