Any Good Transmission Rebuilders
I just lost Overdrive on my 700R4 automatic transmission ('84, Z28, 305 H.O. engine). So I'm looking for a rebuilt unit. Does anyone have experiance or suggestions with Accurate Transmissions ($900, w/18 month warr), Jasper ($1,200.00 w/torque converter and 3yr warr.) or Delco ($1,400 w/12 month warr) ?
Thanks.
Thanks.

A stock replacement is all I'm really looking for. Of course I'd welcome anything that could squeeze out better pick up. But the only place I'd ever use it is in city and highway traffic. Budget is another constraint. The prices I quoted are at the top end of my resources right now. But if it means buying junk, I'd rather just garage the car for a while and rebuild it later.
Thanks for any input.

Well I got my tranny rebuilt with all the good stuff Red Oxide Clutches, Kevlar Band, hardend sprag, ect... and all I paid was 750. And he made it shift like I wanted it, plus gave me a warrenty, tranny has made over150 track passes and still is doing just like it was new, You might check around and try to get a tranny builder to do it on the side.

$900 is way too much for a stock rebuild. You can buy a stock rebuild kit for $100 when doing it yourself.

Addendum:
I took a more careful test drive. It turns out that I do have 4th gear, but only if I manually put the shift into Overdrive at about 40 mph. If I step on the gas fast and the tranny needs to downshift, I loose all drive in the OD position. So whatever connects me to 3rd, 2nd, 1st gears from the OD position seems to be out. Any clue as to what that item is ?
