Tranny Swap - Help!
I need help. I need to know if it is possible to convert my 87' 2.8L Automatic into a 5 speed. I've got a transmission and I know there are a whole mess of other parts that I would need but before I begin the process with my mechanic, I need to know if it's possible. Has anybody out there done anything like this? I know I'd need a new rear end, probably have to shorten the drive shaft, new pedals, new console, new shifter (have it), etc...I appreciate any help I can get! Thanks!

Use the search function Grasshopper. Many men before you have uttered the same words in pursuit of greater knowledge.

Pretty much bolts right in except for hooking up the clutch hydraulics and you don't need a new rearend.

It's not hard. Just get new clutch hydraulics. Not used. Saves lots of time. Trust me. You need a manual pedal set also as well as a manual flywheel. Make sure you T5 is made for a v6 because the v6 has smaller input shaft. I have an extra v6 T5WC I accumulated and I dont have a v6 car, so if you need one let me know. I'll trade. The drive shaft and crossmember bolt right up, no mods. Just need the torque arm mount thats made for that trans cause the bolt pattern is a little different.
