if you have enough time and money you can do anything. couple of things you might want to think about is the torque arm and the manual clutch. if you have a muncie there's a very good chance someone that really needs one for an old car will pay big bucks for it, if you don't have one you could put the money towards a better trans that would be more of a bolt in.

'83s used a mechanical clutch, so that isn't a problem. The torque arm and shift linkage are though.

the location of the fork i nthe bell might be an issue, unless you wouldn't mind it sticking thru thr trans tunnel by your rigth foot.

Ive never seen an early 3rdgen manual 4, but werent they side linkage sanginaws? If so all the parts from one of those should work with an m20+. I know they all have the holes in the tailshafts where a tq arm will mount.

I belive the early f-bodys used BW T-10's, which are side linkage 4 speeds, these transmissions are pretty strong, I had a 70 camaro w/ a 454 that had a T-10 behind it, never had trouble(other than clutches)

My dad had a '73 Z/28 with a M21 or an M22 trans... i dont remember which, but he said that thing was absolutely bulletproof, and he really beat on it

The T10 is pretty strong too... in a little different form it was used in the later 2nd gens and also in som Hemi and 440-6 pack cars in the late '60s

I've heard that the '82 T10 4 speed are good to about 350hp... thats a healthy number
