You might want to check with SLP for availability before ordering but if they have them you should be all good.

The cost of the axles will be offset by the cheaper posi, and 28-spline axles are stronger anyway. IMHO you'd be better off changing them. And don't be afraid of changing axles, you have to pull them nearly out to change the diff anyway.

You can get the axles from Hawks at a good price and still spend less than a new posi from somewhere else.

Car: 82 Z-28
Engine: Built 406ci
Transmission: 700R4 w/3000 stall
Axle/Gears: 3.73 Torsen Posi, Moser Axles
I had the rearend rebuilt in my 82 Z-28 last year. I called Reider Racing in Mich. and ordered the Thornsen third member and I had to get new 28 spline axles per the manufactures design. They sold me a set of Moser axles and while I was at it I got the whole rebuild package with the bearings, seals, new 3:73 grs. etc. Total for all my parts was about 690.00 delivered to my door.
Why the Thornsen third member? After talking to a guy who trans- am raced an 82 Z-28, he said the Thornsen unit was the only one that could take the abuse he was giving out at the races and he said he hasn't replaced it or rebuilt since putting it in..That was a number of years ago, so I thought why not..
I paid a guy who was an expert in putting rearends together and that was the best money I spent. No gear noise and the car leaves hard and straight with a nice set of posi marks on the road..
