5000RPM stall too big?
I am getting a TH400 built right now because my 700R4 blew the other week. Its gonna be a full manual valve body, reverse pattern. The stall is from JW converters and will have antibalooning nitrous plates to withstand the 300P shot I have. The guy building the stall said it will be a 5000RPM stall. This seems high to me. My cam says from 3000-7500 I believe and I have the Vic. Jr. intake. Its a lunati hydraulic roller. More specs in sig.

I hope this is going to be put on a strip only car because driving in on the street will be PITA. The cops will love you because everytime you take off from a light it will sound like you are racing off the light. The 4.11 gears will tighten it up a little but it is still going to be really loose. With your setup I would think 4000 would be about right. Do you know what RPM your torque peaks out at? If so, take 400-600 from that. That would be a good stall.

Did he say if that was the stall with the nitrous or on the motor. If it's the motor the convertor needs to be tighter. Nitrous changed the stall a great deal and you are sparying a pretty big shot. JW is a very good company and I would trust them. But I might call them back just to make sure they know you are using nitrous.

I am going to use the nitrous and JW is well aware of the 300RWHP shot.
I drive the streets too. As far as I can remember, I think I make max HP and torque over 5300RPM (from Desktop Dyno). This guy is supposed to be one of the best for converters but you really never know. It's pretty much too late to turn back. Its being built or shipped now. So I guess Im stuck to find out.

5000 sounds about right for your setup.
It's only a little bit higher than my friends stall in his 98 Z. He is running a yank 4600 stall.
Oh, and it's as bad as it sounds.

I stand corrected. That is a pretty BA ride you got. Your torque peak is at 5000. I would suggest 4400 - 4600. The 5000 is going to be really loose but should still work okay. You will still be reving the engine to pull from the light though. It shouldn't be too bad. You will probably have to rev it to about 1500 to get it to move from a stop.
