Check My Math - Speedo Gear
Right now I'm swapping my 2.73 open rear for a 3.08 Posi rear.
I'm using 225/50/16 tires. According to the tech articles I have a 37 tooth driven gear.
Now, according to my math, my speedometer will be out 11.4%:
2.73 / 3.08 = 0.8863636363...
Therefore, I need to upgrade my driven gear. Now, I can upgrade to a 39 tooth driven gear, which when leaving my drive gear the same means my speedometer will be out 6%, but I won't have to replace the sleeve:
37/39 = 0.948717948717...
Or I can upgrade to a 42 tooth driven gear, which when leaving my drive gear the same means my speedometer will be out negative 0.6%, and I have to change to a different sleeve:
37/42 = 0.880952
Does this math look right? And does anyone know how much a sleeve costs? I can live with being 6% off if I save $75...

Anyone?
I finally got the rear in, so I'd like to get the speedo somewhat close.
On a side note, that's the last ****ing time I buy something used. I ended up swapping parts from my old rear end because the one I bought was rusty/****ty. Turned a 1 hour job into a day long job.

I'll tell you my story Trev. Mr. Speedometer here in Calgary had just ran out of the sleeve I needed and when the new stock came in the price had gone from $35 to over $90. That was about 7 or 8 months back.
I'm STILL frosted
