I'm still thinking about a T56-to-700r4 swap. I just can't decide. Selling my T56 and getting the money shouldn't be a problem. It seems like everyone wants a T56. LOL What kind of gains do you guys think I'll gain by just going to a 2800-3000 stalled auto over my T56/3.42s? Also, anyone else running a 700r4 and 3.42s? According to f-body.org's MPH/gear calculator its going to run down the interstate at 2500RPMs at 80mph. Does that seem right? What kind of MPG you guys get with a 700r4 and 3.42s. Also what disadvantages do the 700r4 and stall have??

When I break my WC-T5 I plan on going with the 700r4. It is just really difficult to get traction out of first gear with a manual trans. I think the T5 and T56 have similiar 1rst gears. With the broad torque of a "cammed" 350 I think the auto trans with 2800 rpm stall is the way to go at the drag strip. An the overdrive makes it liveable on the highway. That's my opinion

yeah, the T56 is actually geared really high out of the hole. It only has a 2.66 1st gear compared to the T5's 2.95 and the 700r4's 3.06 ratio. I love driving the stick, but I think I'd rather be faster at the track with the auto

re:
I recently put in 3.42s w/my 700r4, the two seem to work together great, I dont have a higher stall converter or anything, but so far i love it, just the problem with the 2500rpms a highway speeds seems to literally suck the gas right out the tank, but city driving has improved since i no longer need to put it half way to the floor to get upto speed w/my non-lower end torque cam.

I have 3.73s in my auto 90 RS and i have not noticed any difference in gas mileage with the gears. About once every month or so i drive home from college (250 miles each way) and notice about 22-25mpg. RPMs are not that bad, 3.73s in 4th gear makes the car run at lower RPMs than if you had 2.73s in 3rd gear. Im not at 2500RPMs until i hit about 75MPH.

Wanna trade tranny's and computers?
I've got a complete 4L60E Manual to Auto swap-over kit with transgo shiftkit already installed.
