Driveshaft safety loop
I was wondering if anyone has any options on which one to get. I am looking into getting the Jegs or Lakewood one.
Here is the lakewood one:

Hey Luke. Go with the Spohn piece. It bolts right to your tranny mount and crossmember with no drilling to other pieces of the floorpan.

I still use one of those. Both can be used as long as they're for third gens. They need that extra piece that clears the torque arm. A generic loop doesn't.

Spohn Loop:
Be careful of this one if your car is lowered at all, like 3" as mine is...
I bought the torque arm with the $40 optional driveshaft loop on it, and after installing it my torque arm kept striking the loop under load....had to cut it off with a sawzall....

If the driveshaft or yoke breaks for some reason it holds the driveshaft up so it doesn't hit the ground and act like a pole vault.

If you do any type of racing I would reccomend it. It is required in NHRA for certain times (which I forget) but I think it's like below 13 or something.

It's a "nice to have" item for a daily driver but you don't need it.

Not to dump a load of crap on you, but what the hell does driving in reverse have anything to do with a rear safety loop? You going for the world record for driving a car across the US in reverse???
I have seen guys mod a stock torque arm and bolt a loop to it back there though.

Chill out dude, it was a joke. I mean you must take a lot of people way too seriously if you've got a little guy saying "WTF?" in your sig or whatever the hell that thing is under your name.

What is the point of a driveshaft loop? -89IRO
Oh wow, is this somesthing I really need to include when I do my suspension upgrade? So it is JUST a safety thing right? -89IRO
Thanks for wasting my time.....

Here's a pic of my Jegster loop installed in my car.
Its required by NHRA tracks if you run 12.99 or faster, or if you run slicks on your car at any ET. Its a safety item as said above by kfoley.

When I got my Jeg loop I had just installed new poly mounts to the new motor and tranny. We took it out for the initial street run and everytime I'd step on it I'd hear a metal against metal grinding noise. Took it back and scratched ours heads thinking something major went bad, ended up taking the loop off and everything was good. Before I went to Nationals last year I ended up taking the plasma cutter to the loop and basically built a new one using existing peices to get the thing centered over my driveshaft, I have no idea why it was'nt and would'nt center itself in my application, all I know is that it did'nt-hence the rework. Now all is fine and once I get the 9" under her, a rear loop is definately going in also, never be too safe and it beats driveshaft hunting and redoing if the rear u-joint ever failed.

Dude.. I wish I did cause it deserves a pic, but I dont have a dig camara. (Dam I need to get one) Its very very nice and heavy duty. Also clears my BMR TA too. Only hard part was drilling through the crossmember to get the bolts into the tranny mount. Had to line it up pretty good.

Man I have the Spohn loop( and lca bracket and sfc's) but when I tried to install it it would not clear my Flowmaster/dual cat exhaust! Anybody else have the loop and dual cat with a flowmaster or other 3 inch exhaust.
