Tranny and rearend?
i have an 89 iroc with a 5-speed manual, it originally had the 305 tuneport, i was wondering the specifics on the tranny and rearend, i have found some information that says the rearend is a borg-warner 3.45 but i'm not positive that is right, can someone help me out and let me know where i can find the information, thank you in advance

while you're changing that wing... change the frickin rear and front wheels... your car is not a damn tractor, those fog lights are too big... that hood is gay and so are the headlight covers..
and while we're on a "change" subject.. tell the person behind the wheel.. that "wife beaters" are ment for going UNDER shirts.. and are not made to be worn as a "stand alone" item, unless you live in TN, VA, W.VA, GA, SC, and AR, then we will know and understand the reasons why.
".. that will be $5.68 at the 1st window, thank you drive through"
and yes.. i am an ***.. but im funny.

i see that you do have quite a few, but it looks like they are mostly stock...that wouldn't be good to bring up against mine, sorry....there are no graphics on my car either, the wing is most obviously a conversation piece, that was the intent, if you see the car in person, i guarantee you'd have a different opinion

No, I'm sure my opinion wouldn't change. Also, just because my cars look stock in my sig doesn't mean anything. It's better if people don't know what you have. I'm quite certain my Firebird would take down your car with no problem.

Also, I didn't say your car had graphics. I was just using that as another example. Ten years ago the hot color pinstripes with the heatbeat near the back were huge but now they're totally gay and nobody wants them. However, if you go with a clean and simple approach your car will never go out of style.

I've got a few cars with mildly built 355's and my 327 DESTROYS them. I seriously doubt I'd be seeing you anywhere but in my rearview mirror.

I didn't say it was. My 327 was built by one of the best engine builders in the Midwest.

he's one of the best builders in the midwest and he works out of his garage? shouldn't he have some skills that are employable? if he's that good anyone would hire him at any price....that's too bad

Who said he's on his own? He used to have his own shop and some engine shop offered him HUGE money to go there. However, I've heard he's going to be back on his own soon.

As I mentioned earlier I prefer to keep my combination quiet. However, the car was built with no expense spared and is really not practical for daily driving.

here's some logic for you, telling or not telling isn't gonna change what anyone else has, how their or your car performs or anything of the sort...i'm sure we aren't gonna meet up and run em any time soon

I know EXACTLY what's in there. I just prefer to keep quiet and let the car speak for itself. You're right, we're not going to meet up anytime soon. My car has only been on the road once in the past seven years and probably won't see it again anytime soon.

I've go no reason to take it out. I've got plenty more cars to play with and I buy more all the time. My car basically amounts to a full size model. I've got about $26,000 in it and I haven't finished the suspension or even started on the interior.

i know what you mean there, my exterior mods weren't exactly cheap, all though we do all the body work and labor ourselves...i put roughly over $15,000 in the motor, and another oh....$500 in exhaust (parts only), i haven't done anything to suspension yet...we have started playing with our new Z-06, not quite sure what all we want to do, here is a pic of another of our cars, you'll notice the same aspects, wing and hood changes, and lots of other body mods, it's a 92 vette

Yeah, I'm kind of trying to decide what my next project will be. I've always wanted a Turbo Trans Am and I've been watching one with 84 miles on it. I'm trying to decide if I should do that or try to build the ultimate all-around thirdgen. I've got the engine all done on paper and was originally going to replace my 327 with it but I love my car just the way it is. I pretty much know how I want to set up the car as well. Eventually I'll do both but I'm not sure which way I want to go first. Either way I'm at least a year away from starting.

Actually, the closest I have to that right now is the '90 Formula 350. It's a 32,000 mile car.

that's cool, we have a kaiser-darren sitting in the shop, it's got about 6,000 on it, that's our only one, we also have an old triumph motorcycle, it's pretty neat, we have never started it, other than that all our cars are projects or fun, ya know

nope, my uncle has a huge storage garage that we keep the cars in, he has made a friend in the town he lives in that owns a shop, we do most of our stuff in our garage, but when we need to paint or something like that we move the cars down to the shop in town, they give us free use of all equipment including their up-to-date paint booth, the one that closes all up and bakes the paint on ($75,000 unit), we've just made some lucky connections i guess

Gotcha, I'm hoping to have my building done later this year for my cars. I'm actually in the process of starting my own thirdgen parts business. I've been quietly hoarding a TON of parts. I've had quite a few people tell me that I probably have the world largest collection of used thirdgen parts. I'm not sure about that but I know I have to be close. The building should be big enough for about 12 cars. However, I think I'll probably fill it in a hurry!!!

I'm thirty. I've owned about 45 thirdgens so far. Of course, a lot of them have been parts cars. I'm hoping to buy at least 35 more this year. Actually, my '82 Firebird is my first car. It was originally a plain jane V6. I'm pretty much just into thirdgens. However, I wouldn't mind having a '69 Camaro, Grand National, and a '68 Charger someday. More than likely I'll just stick to thirdgens.

Yeah, you've got some expensive ones in there. Actually, I had a post last year with a group picture of some of my cars. It is titled "My Thirdgen Collection". Do a search for it and you can see a little of what I have. There is a picture with five of my cars together. It's actually a pretty cool picture. I still have four of the five.

Wow. Now all we have to do is learn how to use PM's.
So what do your two cars run in the 1/4? Or are we still keeping secrets?

Hey, Awesome 89 I think with that wing fetish of yours you should be collecting Hondas. I found that people like you, that talk fast usually drive slow. It seems you have alot to brag about but quite frankly I don't see anything worth that talking that much s**t about. If you had $15K to spend on an engine I would guess you would have enough to buy some decent tires and wheels. Unless you are going for that lawn tractor look. I bet all your friends drive imports. But your the different one right?
