here is my situation, theres a really noticeable noise coming from the torque converter.. my belief is that the stator is broken.. it sounds horrible now and it feels as if the converter will not free wheel so to say at a stop. it now causes the car to stall but if you neutral drop it in you can get it moving.. just cant idle in a gear at a stop.. if you can get it into neutral at a stop your ok.. then gotta neutral drop it to get it movin again.. think slappin a new converter in it will fix it or will i have more problems becauses of the broken converter? btw its a th350

Yup, sounds like your TC is farkled...

If there's metal in the fluid, you need to tear it down and clean it all out. You should quit driving it, the more you drive it, the more metal it will shed into the trans.

k thanks for the reply i guess i'll drop the pan first and see if they're any metal junk in it.. hopefully just flushin it and popin a new converter on will fix er up.. hasnt been drivin since it started makin noise other then to diagnose problem.. i'll be towin it to my work sometime in the next few weeks and pullin the trans n hopin i didnt **** the tranny up 2
