Dana 44 U-joint

I was able get a great deal on a Dana 44 and after some reading found that I am going to need a new 1310 conversion U-joint for my driveshaft. The problem is that one post I read said I will need a Neapco 3-3130 or a Precision 372 U-joint and another said Precision 369. Which one do I need? Also where do I pick these up?

SLP told me to use the Precision 372 or Nepco equivalent when I bought my Dana 44 from them. I picked up one from the local auto parts; it was a stocked part. Works fine with the LS1 driveshaft I installed at the same time.

Precision #369 is what you'll need if you have a factory aluminum driveshaft. #355 is what you'll need elsewise. I'm pretty sure #372 is just the "heavy duty" version of the #355.

Another thing you'll probably need (PITA for me to find) are U-Bolts. I *believe* they are part number Spicer #2-94-28X ...I'll have to double check though. I also had to grind them down a bit for them to slip past the weld on the driveshaft.

Will any of these work with a steel driveshaft?

I'm pretty sure #355 and #372 do although I can't tell you for certain. You'll just have to buy them and check if they dont fit take 'em back.

Tell them you have a 92 Z28 with the aluminum DS. That will get you the right u-joint. Thats what I had to get when I got the AL DS for my RS with the 1o bolt. The bearings were a #6 and a #3 IIRC.

The dana 44 has a different yoke then the 10-bolt rear does. The dana 44 uses a #1310 size yoke. I was wondering what conversion universal joint I need to use the stock steel driveshaft with a dana 44.
