Differences between 93 and 94-97 T56's
Ok I know that 93 had slightly higher gear ratios through all 6 gears (except 1.0 @ 4th, right?) Anyways, other than not giving as good gas mileage in overdrive and such, how do the different ratios affect how quickly the car accelerates and such.
I'm admitting I know nothing about the subject but I'm assuming the higher gear ratios help the engine get up quicker. Therefore I'm wondering if there are any benefits to this compared to the later T56's because everything I've read recommends the later models.
BTW, I'll be putting this T-56 up to an otherwise stock 5.7tpi that will eventually see a better cam (mid-range) and probably a Stealthram (and maybe down the line (read: more $$$) some AFR190s). If that helps, great - I just don't know much about this stuff so I figured you guys could help. Thanks!

steeper gears down low will accelerate you faster, but the difference between the '93 and later T-56's is so miniscule you wont be able to tell a difference at the track because most people arent consistent enough with a manual to blaim differences in time on less than a .5 difference in gear ratios. your talking something like 2.76 vs. 3.06 first gear ratios. also, the 5th and 6th gear ratios are pretty much identical, there wont be any noticeable gas mileage differences

The 94-97 models also hold more torque than the 93. 450 ft lbs for 94-97 and 400 ft lbs for 93.
