When you romp on your car the ring gear and carrier is forced to the rear of the housing from the force of the engine torque spinning the pinion gear and the pinion trying to climb the ring gear. This all happens at the same time with tremedous force. The cover just acts as a girdle to apply pressure to keep the carrier from moving back...extra support. It also looks pretty cool underneath the car.

I've been working on them and will be available before too long. Keep an eye on my site for availability date at www.9bolt.com or www.diffsolutions.com
