Which tranny cooler and where to mount it?

I finally plan on installing my trans-go shift kit and i want to add a tranny cooler since i will have the fluid drained and im sure its a good idea anyways. Hopefully by the end of summer i will have a 350hpish 350 in the 305s place so im sure it definetly wouldnt hurt with that combo. anyways what would be a good cooler to get that isnt to expensive and can you mount then behind the radiator or do you have to put it near the tranny somewhere.

I just installed a Perma Cool Thinline, and I put it right in front of the A/C condensor. I wire tied it to the two bars that cross in front of the condensor.

I used B&M and I put it right in front of the condensor attached to two vertical bars (the same that Tom91Bird).

IN ADDITION:

In the places that hoses makes contact with bars, radiator, condensor or any metal parts, I put some "rubber covers" (like the plastic wire harness covers) for hose protection for long time. The rubber covers were very simple. I used other hose with bigger diameter than original hoses ("hose into hose").

the AC condensor is directly behind the radiator right? If i decide to put the tranny cooler back there thats coming out since i dont have AC anymore. how cool do you think the fluid should be?

The mounting instructions included on B&M cooler box have the percentages (%) of cooler eficiency depending of the cooler location:

The location are:

1.- Cooler / AC condenser / Radiator (my option). - Max eficien.

2.- AC / Cooler / Radiator. Middle ef.

3.- AC / Radiator / Cooler. Min ef.

Let's me see tonight at my home if I have this paper and I 'll reply tomorrow.

I have the B&M 24000 GVW supercooler mounted in front of my Griffin radiator. (No condensor, A/C in Arizona? hah!) The temp hovers around 150-165 degrees in 100 degree heat, in medium traffic.

Tranny coolers are simplicity themselves. Any 12000 GVW cooler mounted in front of the rad will work wonders for longevity. There really ought to be a law requiring them because for $30 lousy bucks it will at least double the life of your tranny--no kidding.

Hey! TBI305Camaro:

Here is (about location):

"Installation Instructions"

"B&M SuperCooler TM"

"COOLER MOUNTING POSITIONS"

"Location 1. This location is in front of both the radiator and the air conditioning condenser. This is the preferred installation location, as it permits 100% rated cooling efficiency.

Location 2. This location is between the air conditioning condenser and the radiator. This location permits approximately 75% rated cooling efficiency.

Location 3. This location is behind both the air conditioning condenser and the radiator. This location permits approximately 60% rated cooling efficiency. Installing your cooler in this location may reguire the use of an auxiliary electric fan or the use of a cooler that is one size larger than the size originally calculated to suit your vehicle.

Caution: The SuperCooler mus be installed so that it is at least 1 inch away from the fan, 1/8 inch from the radiator, 2 inches from the hood, wheel well or firewall and 6 inches from any exhaust manifold, pipe or header pipe."

...and remember protects the hoses from any metal parts....

I mounted my B&M supercooler the same way Denis.V did- and I even covered all those sharp edges, too. Except, I covered them with pieces of heater hose cut lengthwise.

I have no condensor, so I mounted mine right to the radiator using the plastic tie straps from the kit. SummitRacing.Com sells a cooler re-mount kit, which just includes the straps.

I also added a Summit remote trans filter, and when I did that, I changed all the hoses to Spectre's "fake" braided steel hoses.
