B&M's ShiftPlus shift improvers??? (4L60E)
These thing are available at Summit for like $40 bucks. Are they ok to use and do they really make much of a difference? Are they bad for your trans? I think it electronicaly trick your trans to run a higher line presure to make it shift harder. It is for the 4L60E and 4L80E newer transmissions.

JUNK Do a search, the tranny experts on this board, say they only masks problems. Get the TransGo kit, it's the only REAL shiftkit and fixes the problems with the 700R4.

Oops, I thought he was referring to the shift kit by B&M. I'm not too sure about that piece. Though raising line pressure to firm shifts, probably isn't the best idea. I would think that's like adjusting the TV cable on a non electronic 700 to firm the shifts.

IMO it does not fix the Tranny. it just jacks the pressure up but does nothing about the inherent problems that the unit has such as the VB wear from the PWM Lock Up control. Go with the TransGo and you will be happy and so will your Tranny!

Yeah, the box isn't worth it... 'course you've gotta have a '94-up 4L60E/4L80E (electronic 700r4) in your 3rd gen... and that'd be interesting to see. But skip the electronic box and do the trans mods the right way; mechanically...

OK I'll be the nonfollower like always.
B&M products are great, Ive been selling them for years and not once has anyone come back and say different.
I put a B&M shift kit in my car last year when we rebuilt the trans.
You cant go by what people heard other people say,Go with the info you know.
Ive never used TransGo parts so I dont KNOW how good they are.
my .2 cents
Peace

My 700R4 worked perfectly fine untill I installed a B&M shift improver kit. One year later myy tranny is junk so I now have a probuilt going in tomorrow.
I have a B&M Megashifter and it is a piece of crap!!
My friend picked up 3 tenths switching from a holeshot 2400 to a 2400 stall vigilante converter.
The only I've seen from B&M that like is there downflow tranny cooler. It's a sweet unit with an original design and works better than my old Flex-a-lite.
Hmmmmmm.....there's 3 out of 4 B&M products that I have experience with and they are crap!!!! I decided to stop using their products from my own experience and not what someone else has told me.

the products that raise the tranny's main line pressure cause a couple things to happen......... wear and tear.
Remember higher line pressures mean higher temperatures and more wear on the pump of the tranny.

I like my B&M shift improver, I have zero complaints.
I however did not alter the accumulator valve as reccomended in the instructions, I did take out a couple springs, drill a coule holes in the sepeator plate, and remove some check *****.
it dosent shift super hard or do a "bang" type shift, but if shifts much fimer than stock, and if I lay into it, it shifts very fast.

a buddy of mine has a b&m shift kit in his AOD which is behind a stock 302 motor with only exhaust and a 9psi paxton. when it shifts it feels like the trans is gonna jump threw the floor and come inside with you. so far it working fine tho.

Just had my 700R4 rebuilt with the B&M Super Trans kit and it works beautifully. Shifts are firm but not harsh, has no slipping and will launch the car like it was shot out of a cannon.

Ive been reading this board for awhile now, and I've kinda learned who knows what....if Transfixleo says Transgo is the better product, as with the majority of guys on this board, I think I'll listen.
I just bought the reprogramming kit. I also spent good money to have my tranny rebuilt. then add the $ 700 for the Art Carr 3000 stall, and all the time and money in my motor.....I don't think I want to take the chance of my tranny blowing through all of it.
I think I'll stick with Transgo.:::
Update: The Art Carr Stall was canceled..my wife talked me into a more affordable Stall solution....www.lnjstreetrods.com he has been very helpful and is building a custom converter that should stall between 2800-3000rpm with my setup. Check him out.

I kinda agree with the whole anti-B&M shift kits.
I have a B&M Manual-Pak in my TH-350, and I'm seriously looking into a Trans-Go manual Valvebody. The shifts are just to hard. When I have to let off the thottle to shift at 5000rpms on a dirt road cause I'm afread of blasting the damn U-Joints into orbit then theres something wrong. Forget 6500rpms, my U-Joint would pass ****ing voyager 2 on it's way to a 2 day interception with Alpha-Proxima!
Does Trans-Go make whole full manual valvebodies?
The Manual-Pak had me drill my valvebody. It's not bad, but damn I'm not into the sport of auto-Pole-vaulting! Maybe if I had a GM12bolt, & some strong U-Joint Girdles? Other than the firm shifts, it's fuctions 100%.

U-joints? What about the Intermediate Roller Clutch that is now on it's last legs? TransGo does make a Full Manual Reprogramming Kit. If you can't undo the Mods already done you should be able to pick up a virgin VB no problem. The TransGo uses the Vacuum Modulator so you will want to hook that up too. This will help your engine last longer too now.

Say I have the Transgo shift kit..and the reprogramming kit with the manual option...my 700r4 is of the 1983 27 spline variety. Wich should I use, or both? The shift kit is that noyoyo sys. well you get my drift. I see others listing both in there mods, is there a benefit of installing both? Kind of confusing...

On an '83 I would be using Both. Here's why: The early 700's had terrible shift timing and the TransGo NoYoYo SK (The "Full" SK) has what you need to correct that while the Reprogramming Kit does not. I also don't like the Servo setup on the Repro Kit so I combine parts from both kits for that reason too.
I saw you mention "manual". Are you planning on runing the Full Manual Kit? Unless this is a Track car I wouldn't recommend it. Also, if it is a Track car, I am leary of the 27 spline setup. JMO.

Thanks for the input. This car will eventually be track only but not for awhile. I was leary of the weaker 700r4 also, It for sure wouldnt be my first choice, But, I got it for $125.00 bucks on a new never been run rebuild, I figure if I can run it on the street and at the track for a year or two, until I can get my 400ci TH400 combo together, Ill be way ahead. Heck the transgo kit cost as much as the tranny. With the stall, shifter, shift kit, plus tranny, I have a whole whopping 600.00. I can still have fun while I'm getting the good stuff together. And if it breaks, Ive lost more money than that at a girl scout bake sell.
Thanks again, and Ill let ya know how it works.

My two cents. The B&M Megashifter is both a work of art and fuctions flawlessly "if installed properly". Stay away from the shift kits if you want to keep your tranny, drive train and chasis intact. The 1-2 shift from the one installed in my sons car just about makes the car snap roll. Feels cool, but can't be good.

Old post..as you can see from my sig Ive done a bit of modding lately and it all works quite well at 500 hp NA ....Nope , I dont have a dyno sheet but the builder ,RHS, gauranteed 525hp.
I finally have it all together now but I cant give you any time slips till after I have this back surgery.
