Stock ford injectors

A buddy of mine is trying to sell me a set of 19 pound injectors from his 94 mustang gt. Him and a couple other people have told me that 19 pound ford injectors are under rated and are actually higher. Are they better than whats on my stock 86 tpi 305. They have been on the car for 2 months and he's hard up for money and said he'd sell them for $80. Should i buy them.

The Ford 19lb injectors will work fine on your motor with no other modifications. I have them on my 350 but set at 52lbs of pressure.

NO, injectors are all rated at the same pressure by the manufacturers ie: Bosch, RP, Lucas. They rate them at
45lbs of pressure as an industry standard. The 305 injectors are rated at 18.4 lbs and the Mustang injectors are rated at 19.01 lbs. Ther is not enough of a difference to worry about.

Car: 1988 Trans Am GTA
Engine: 5.7L TPI (L98)
Transmission: 700RJunk
I'm pretty sure ford rates their injectors at a lower fuel pressure (about 37 lbs vs. 44 psi for gm) even though they are all made by bosch. I'm 99% sure of this because i have a set of ford #19 "designII" injectors on my gta with the stock fuel pressure setting and it runs fine. I also checked (with an autoxray) the INT/BLM values and they were well all very close to 128 just like it had been with the stock 22's.

I have a set on a 350 and had to run the pressure up to 52 lbs
to get the Block Learn centered at 128 but I do have some mods.

This is not true. The 19# rating is at 37psi, not 45psi. Bosch may measure them at 45 and Ford goes and changes the #/hr appropriately, but the 19 #/hr is 37psi.

Ok, I read on the Bosch site a few years ago about how they
rated injectors at 45 lb across the board and also got the same
thing from a site on Lucas injectors. I guess it didn't cross my
mind that car manufaturers would fiddle with the ratings.

So a Ford 19 lb @ 36 psi injector, in a GM car at 44 lbs would be
the same as a Chevy 350 injector at about 21 lbs?

If so, the Ford 19's run at 52 lbs in my car are now acting as
22.84 lb injectors?

http://users.erols.com/srweiss/calcpchg.htm

Here is a link to a calculator for injector flows.

http://users.erols.com/srweiss/index.html#jcalc

This is the link to the parent page that has a ton of
different calculators on it.

Fords run at 36 psi and GM runs at 44 psi.

This is a very helpfull web site.
