Crank swap for a 305 TPI

I was wondering if anyone has done or thought about swapping the crankshaft from a '94-'97 264 motor into a 305 block? I was thinking of doing this in my '85 Z. I think with good heads, hi-flow runners, base, plenum and a good cam this combination would really pull in the upper midrange and topend.

Why would it be so bad? As long as its a newer 305 block with the 1 piece rear seal it'd be Ok. As for power characteristics IDK. I tried the combo on Dyno 2000 and my power peak would be around 5700 rpms. Thats a little high for TPI I think.

Keep in mind that if you want to build that 302, 305, or 327 as opposed to the common 350, that is your choice. However, don't let anyone fool you into thinking that the 350 will not make more power, because it will, every time.

Hey! better yet, offset grind the crank and use early small journal rods to give you a stroke of 2.9x. I'll bet if you try hard enough, and spend lots of money, you build a 25x c.i. TPI small block with 250 lb-ft and 200 hp.
