$800 build

Ok, Here would be a good tech artical on how to make power with a budget. Anyway I have a 305 TPI, soon to be a 5 spd, with the 9 bolt 3.45 rear. The new 305 has a truck cam and heads so I need a valve job on the LB9 heads(or new/different heads) and a cam. I have K&Ns, a cat-back, air-foil(came with the car)

Using $800 or around there(+/- $100) what mods can I do to get the most power. (no engine swaps, no NOS, look for NA power that is there all the time)

do the lt4 hot cam and headers and use the left over money for the rest of the exhaust system or an adjustable fuel pressure regulator. thats what i would do. stretch it as far as you can. good luck!

LT4 is too big for the 305. You know how much work on the heads would be needed to support the lift? + The LT4 is made for free flowing intakes. Stock wont cut it. For 800 get a nice full exhaust and a crane compucam. It'll be reliable and still be able to work with the stock computer. With just those mods all the little stuff adds up. If you go with headers I'd advise to use aftermarket gaskets along with stage 8 locking bolts and get the. Jet Coated. You'll be better off in the long run. Also on the exhaust system use all band clamps you'll thank yourself when trying to get the exhaust apart. As for a cam swap your going to have to pull the intake so there is new gaskets there plus all the TPI gaskets. Timing chain if old one is streched out, timing cover gasket and oil seal. Also go with a 180 stat. You will easly spend 150 in misc.

what about the CompCams TPI cams @ ThunderRacing.....are they ne good. For some reason I tend to trust them more. I was told the LT4(not the hot one) makes a good 305 cam.....so did the the ZZ4 but the LT4 is CHEAP.....$135
