Is it worh saving?

I bought this car for $500, and I finally got fuel to the car. This is how it runs. I've attached a link to a YouTube short. I hope it's just a big misfire, but I'm no expert.

Also if it helps the car has been sitting since 91 and it's a 86

A much larger concern would be the condition of the body--- floors, T-top bar (if so equipped), A-pillars, cowl, quarters---the interior, the suspension, brake system, the car's RPOs, the entire fuel system, and the remainder of the running gear. All that stuff would cost a lot more (and end up costing you much more than the car would be worth) than just dropping in another engine if that one is junk.

Pics showing the car's overall condition would go a long way in determining if the car is a candidate for either restoration or the crusher.

Surprisingly, it's in good shape. There's only surface rust where you'd expect it to be. But other than that, the car is super solid. I would post some photos but unfortunately it won't let me.

Re: Is it worh saving?

I'm hearing a pretty solid knocking. But I'd start with a compression test.

This was on starting fluid. It's running well, but I'm starting to think the injectors are bad.

And sorry for the youtube videos it wont let me post them on here.

Re: Is it worh saving?

The noise in the first clip could be the common knock caused by a completely dead cylinder on cold start. In the second clip, that noise could be exhaust leakage, not a mechanical knock.

Around here, the salvage yards are giving almost $500 for a carcass, dragged in on a tow truck. For a 2,100 pound Toyota Cressida, they'll give $350 minimum, and a full size pickup at 5,500 pounds you'll get five bones. In other words, you don't have much to lose if it doesn't work out well for you.

If you looking for more-relevant advice, you can post pics as attachments either through your CP or a free account on a photo hosting site such as IMGUR and then posting the links to your pics ITT.
