1989 trans am GTA no start , barely used in the last
5 years.
Hallo from Europe,
My 1989 trans am GTA , stock, was stopped (working ) 2 years ago.
Yesterday , tryed again to start her with no luck.
It's keeped inside in a good enviroment.
Fuel gauge stays to the top , pressure gauge some times go up and down (erratic reading ) (maybe some negative ground problems) already removed and plugged the connecttor near fuel filter at the pressure switch .
I try to start , the fuel pump work to prime . Then stop (as normal) then prime again everything start i try .
I pulled One Spark plug cable, i got Spark.
I checked the fuel rail fuel valve , pushed i got fuel . Maybe need to check with a gauge the pressure .
When i try to start , also After 10 times i don't feel unburned fuel smell from exhaust or engine.
I tryed both with maf plugged and unplugged cause i Remember having problems with It.
Any clue where to start? I Will try to exclude any problem and try to start the car in "recovery mode" with most of the not exsentiall item to Just crank It.
I mean can i start It with maf unplugged? I One this car since 24 years , but free time for hobbies are Always Less.
Thank you guys

Check the basics, fuel pressure, spark and injector pulse. Untreated fuel doesn’t ignite very well after that long in storage. 89 up tpi also had problematic multec injectors. Coils short. Old fuel varnish can also gum up the injectors.
Will it start on starting fluid ?

Used carb cleaner and She started from 2 second then die. Now i Need to check for fuel pressure and for injectors, i am not sure how to check for injectors. I have checked the First two on driver side , front of the engine , both around 19 ohm.

I use a dollar store spray bottle with some gas. Take off the rubber intake at the throttle body, have a buddy turn it over as you spray gas in, if it starts you can throttle it from under the hood and see if it idles on its own. This will determine if you have good spark and enough compression to idle. I would then check fuel pressure at the rail. I just went through a similar process with my 91 GTA. Turns out I needed new fuel injectors and did a full tune up. Fuel pumps are common issues as well, but a pain to change.
Maybe take a read through my post that helped diagnose my issue? https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/tpi/...-gta-fuel.html

Today almost started i purged some fuel by the Lines performing pressure check at the rail. Got about 40 psi of pressure to the line. She try to start but struggle with the starter , if i push a Little the pedal It runs faster. If i floor the pedal She don't try to start . I try to Attach a video .

Post some good in focus detailed pictures of your fuel injectors. You can rotate them to give a side view too if they aren't just super stuck to the O-rings. Some good pics also of the top part of the injector where the wiring connects. Looking to see if there is a stylized RP logo on the injector where the connector is on the side.
You best bet it probably the front driver side injector for cylinder #1
