Timing: where does the ESC Brown/White wire connect to?
Hello, I have read all the posting on setting initial timing and they usually say "disconnect the EST wire first before setting the timing, It's a single tan wire on the passenger side sticking out of the big wire harness near the A/C Canister" My 1985(?) Camaro TPI motor is in a 1959 Rambler so a lot of the harness has been rerouted/cut or covered up.
1. Does the Tan/white wire go into the HEI Distributor cap? (if so, I can make a disconnect there, pic 2)
2. I have this plug hanging around (pics 3 &4) any idea what it should connect to?
Thanks in advance, I have learned a lot on this site. I estimate this car/engine was put together in the early 1990s.

Only a poorly educated guess but they probably left the connector in there to set timing in the first place. That engine isn't using a mass air flow sensor so the ecm is probably a 90-92 speed density unit. The tan/blk wire would go from the base of the distributor (not the cap/ign coil) to the ecm http://austinthirdgen.org/mkportal/m...ine_wiring.gif Follow the wiring, willing to bet the connector is still there.

I’ve seen some street rod harnesses with est by ecm.
looks like a gauge connector. Like mentioned look gif the flat 4 connector off distributor and follow loom.
