What intake manifolds can I run?
Getting ready to tear into my 86 z28 with the TPI 305 and have absolutely no idea what intake manifolds I can run. I want to run Edelbrocks performer intake but again I’m not sure if I can run this. Any help would be appreciated.

Are you converting to carb? Or do you mean TPI? In either case yes...you can, but I don't know under what terms you mean.

If you need to remain smog legal you'll have to stick with TPI. However there are a few smog legal TPI after market manifolds out there to choose from.
That said, they can be expensive and on a stock 305 you're likely not going to get much bang for your buck.

Because of some corporate name? The name is meaningless at this point. Edelbrock, to my knowledge, makes nothing useful for you. Your 305 is not significantly limited by the intake. The exhaust and the cam are much more significant restrictions, and in any case you need to determine what course you will take for tuning any modifications you make FIRST. Without a tuning solution you can't take full advantage of any other mods.

What would be the best value then if the actual name doesn’t matter. Also looking to replace the injector rails and injectors.

Re: What intake manifolds can I run?
Long runner bases are all pretty expensive now. At stock levels, your 305 isn't taxing the base as it stands now. Not saying you couldn't make improvements but it's not the choke point as of now. As GD said, cam and exhaust. Worry about those first to go faster.
Also, 19 lb injectors is what you need, look for delphis to be a more direct replacement. Talk to Southbay a sponser of ours.
and why change the rail? There's really nothing to got wrong with them

Re: What intake manifolds can I run?
For the 305, it would probably be better to just port the stock one out a little bit and run with that. It'll save you money and get about the same performance for a 305.

Several of us have said it already - Camshaft, Exhaust, and Tuning. You don't need an intake, or injectors, or rails.
