Main and Rod journal size for 0.01 under 305 TPI crank
Hello
I have a stock 305 TPI crank from 1989.
The Crank has a few scratches and therefore i go 0.01 under.
Here in Europe it is not so easy to look for a machine shop that can handle US parts. So i have to tell the shop the right diameter to grind to.
So, what is the right diameter for the mains and the rods for "0.01 under" bearings
Thanks

Mains are 2.45" standard and rods are 2.10" standard so you want mains at 2.44" and rods at 2.09" for 0.010 under. You should buy the bearings, torque them into the rods (not mounted to crank) and block (without the crank) and actually measure them for exact sizing. That is more time and money so the choice is yours. HTH!

OK, then i have to substract the oil clearance from the measured values, correct ?
What clearance is perfect for that engine (rods and main) ?
Is the clearance the same on all mains and on all rods ?
Thanks

In general your main and rod bearing clearances will be between .001 and .003"
