Map sensor installation on an 85 TPI intake?
I know this is probably a stupid question, I honestly searched for hours trying to figure this out so even if it's been asked 100 times please help me out....
I have an 85 350 TPI motor, a 730 ecm to run speed density instead of maf, will be converting factory TBI harness per the sticky thread in this section. I'm just confused on the map sensor.
Is there a place to put a map sensor on my 85 intake? I've read talk of plugging a hole when going from map to maf but haven't seen anything mentioning maf to map. Should I already have a map sensor or place to put one somewhere? Can I drill a hole somewhere?
I'm assembling a basketcase project and trying to learn alot of stuff at once. I give up on this one, I could really use some help. Thanks

If you have a plenum extension you can drill out the wing and bolt it there. You should have a dedicated manifold vacuum signal to the map. Your old map will work.

You can buy the ninth injector delete off ebay use the fuel rail plug and tap the runner plug with a 1/4 npt and use that as a vacuum signal for the map.

So using the 9th injector delete idea doubling as a map signal also eliminates the need for me to wire the ninth injector into my adapted harness? This keeps getting better.
At least I don't feel so bad about asking now.

You wouldn't need the ninth injector wired up anyways, if you want me to drill and tap a block off for you just pay me the shipping and I will help you out. I think your ecm will be there tomorrow.

I have 2 ECMs from the junkyard from a couple years ago ( pic-a-part pull-a-thon where you get as much stuff as you can carry for 40 bucks) Somehow I ended up with 2 gm ecms out of I don't know what. Numbers are....
SERV. NO. 16144288
with a chip that says... JT8(G)/J6/P
LFIVF247
AE38 (on the underside)
ATKM 5926 (on the top )
The other ecm is .....
SERV. NO. 6168625 BDJY
Blue chip cover thing says DELCO 6836BDJY
Memcal chip lookin thing says DELCO 4895 3076
Then some fancy lookin thing straight out of a "TRON" movie right next to it says 1263071.
They're yours if you want them, I can ship them to you with the 9th injector delete kit.

Got the fitting coming in Monday, 1/4" NPT tap available at work, and the delete kit will get ordered soon so I can handle the tapping.
( I'm trying to drive up my post count so I can post in certain threads)

I can't pass that offer up. I'll get the delete kit and send it to you soon, I have your address. I'll return the favor somehow.

Re: Map sensor installation on an 85 TPI intake?
Also, just remembered, I DID find an old MAP sensor off of one of my 2 donor cars in the junkpile in the shed. I just don't know for sure if the MAP sensor I found is from the 89 5.0 TBI or the 91 3.1 multi port TPI.
I may hit the junkyard to be safe. V6 or V8 is the only thing that matters right?

Re: Map sensor installation on an 85 TPI intake?
Looks like I'm good. the number on mine is 460 9145. So it has to be the Map off of my 89 305 TBI. Thanks for the link.
