Is the TPIS.com Mini Ram Set up worth $895.00 plus: $359.95 for the fuel rails?

I have an all stock 1991 chevy camaro z28 with the L98 350 motor. Its not modded at all. The only work done to it is shorty tube headers, short custom exhaust, and a 58mm holly throttle body.

I am looking to buy a TPIS mini ram for my original cast iron straight plug heads. I have not done anything else.

To get the set up I am looking at $1,254.95. I know once that's done I will have to get the car tuned which is probably another thousand or what ever.

Before I blow away a grand, My question is it worth the money for the gain it will give a stock L98? Thank you.

It will gain on stock L98 but similar gains can be achieved with stealth ram, super ram if you can find it used, or likely heavily siamesed runner ported big base tpi, all for less than miniram.

I feel that intake is greatly over priced for what you get but it does work ok, esp on larger motors but at that point single plane efi takes over and is cheaper so i see no real use in miniram unless hood clearance is a concern

5.3 or a 6.0 just save the cash and move up

Im not saying you have a bad motor but once you get bit by the tunning bug the LS motors are a far better base to start from

I do want to eventually sway to a LS2 but want to injoy this motor before running it into the ground. I found a stealth ram for $650.00 here I think i will go with that for now. Thanks

Right now I put the stock 245hp motor back in my car. With only SLP 1 3/4 HEADERS, dual cats 3in catback with a Hooker Maxiflow muffler and gutted airbox, 3.42 gears and T5 trans, I could run with the stock LS1 in the quarter if not beat them. The point is you don't need to change the intake to make more power. Follow what I did and you will be happy. The car makes about 260whp and you will be able to beat the 5.7 Hemi cars too. You will also beat some of the GT Mustangs. Your track times will be low 13's@104-107mph. It could do this and shifting at 5000rpms.

How is that even possible? I have shorty headers with no cats or mufflers just piping out the rear of the front tire. Everything else it stock.

Your saying just like this I will be making 260 to the wheel from a 245hp motor I find this hard to believe. I get beat by LS1 motors on the street.

Re: Is the TPIS.com Mini Ram Set up worth $895.00 plus: $359.95 for the fuel rails?

My experience was stock tpi with headers exhaust timing added and full suspension, slicks and 2800 stall, car went 13.63 at 97

Hsr intake and pulleys it went 13.3's at 100-101. Drag wheels and 1.6 rockers it went 12.95 at 103.8.

Intake mods will definately help but you can extract performance out of stock tpi with appropriate bolt ons and tuning.

For what its worth my 99 ls1 auto 2.73 trans am went 13.4 at 104 in summer heat stock plus lid filter. It takes full bolt on slicks stalled L98 to run that and still wont trap as high. Well driven 6 spd car will destroy bolt on l98.

Stalled ls1 with same mods will turn low 12's. i went 12.15 at 111 in very good air conditions

Yes! I seen it for myself. But you would have to go the same route as I did. Your headers are 1 5/8. And maybe your airbox is not gutted. We dynoed an 89 with Dyno Don headers dual cats and 3ln catback Magnaflow make 251whp in an auto GTA.. 90-92 cars make 5 more hp.

Well I do have a ram air 11 hood, Ram air Box and 58mm holly TB. I did gut out my OEM air box cause there was really no need for it with the Air box.

My headers are: 1 1/2 in tubing. Thanks.

Change the headers to Dyno Dons. They are 1 3/4in. Or if you can find SLP'S 1 3/4 for cheap, they will work too. Remember this, all smog an A/C is hooked up.

Put the stock throttle body back on. Its not doing anything for the car.
