113 Cylinder Heads Used Issues
I am going to ask the Third Gen because I trust you guys. So I purchased some 113 corvette heads 12556463 GM. I was told bolt on and ready to go! I did see rusting on the valves and was told this was overhauled. Now I noticed one stripped hole and some grinding above the intake holes like maybe he was trying to fit an intake not for application. Please help and review photo's....Paid $680 for both and will be taking to machine shop next week to look over my concerns as I was told by my mechanic not to install until cleaned up. This is what the seller wrote back to me.
Hey man,
Not to sound like a prude, but I am a GM world class mechanic one of only 2800 in the nation with over 15 years experience, I would not hesitate to run them as is, however if your mechanic is concerned he could get a 10 dollar tube of valve lapping compound at the local parts store and lap the valves just for peace of mind. Any surface rust from sitting WILL NOT affect valve sealing!

Black spots are the gasket was told he had on his car for a little bit after overhauled then got bored of his project so was selling them. Yeah figured I would be just cleaning gaskets off but the rust on valves I think would be best to have taken off and cleaned. The grinding on it too has me a little worried because I see on one side it looks like the sander slipped and has markings near intake port. I just hope the gasket will seal correctly.

You can always smear a touch of rtv there. .a little.
Dont worry about some lite rust spots
Soon as the valve starts smacking the seat or rotating it will seal if it isnt already. A quick lapping wouldnt hurt though and would give you peace of mind.
