tpi head question
hello,
i have a 305 block about to be rebuilt. i have a set of heads, casting numbers block 14010201. heads 14014416. my question is, will a tpi set up match up to these heads?
i have googled this a few times and it keeps sending me to this site which i have been trolling for about a year now. everytime i google this it doesnt really answer my question. is there someone here who can send me to the right thread or that can answer this question?
thank you for everyone's time,
Dirdy

Re: tpi head question
Any TPI will bolt up fine ;
however depending on the type of the TPI base used ( early vs late , Vette vs F-Body )
you may have to elongate the 4 center bolt holes of the intake base because late F-Body intakes had a different bolt angle on those four bolts compared to the early heads like your '416's.

Re: tpi head question
my fault on year. according to the block number it says 80-84 305
i appreciate the quick reply. it helps a noob out tremendously.
and on a side note, it is my understanding they now make an intake to fit with vortec heads for tpi?

Re: tpi head question
I meant the year of your car or the TPI intake you plan to use ?
Fill out your profile so we don't have to guess
Any SBC heads ( inc Vortecs ) will fit on any year SBC block ; it is the angle of the intake bolts in the head ( and obviously the TPI intake that came with them ) that vary by year as noted above

Re: tpi head question
my fault vette. i forgot to update my info earlier.
i currently have a 92 z28 with a 305tpi already in it. this car is planned to be worked over last project.
the block in question came out of a early 80s truck. casting numbers says 80-85 year produced. the camaro is in a position that i cannot pull the motor out and make a copy so to speak of it. but this block is already out and a plan to drop it in a 02 s10.
my plan (trial and error) is to build another 305 tpi, bore it .030, tpi set up, and port and polish intake and heads. i have the manual for the conversion for s10. since this motor was already free from a vehicle, i wanted to ask and research any and all i can about tpi. every time i google this, it sends me here. the ipad app isnt much help.
the z28 i have will eventually have the motor yanked in a few years and 350 dropped into it like it deserves to have.
i appreciate your info, vette
